Life happens on Tuesday

Thoughts on family, photography, and the 'mundane' moments of life
This morning
I am sitting with my Hazelnut coffee (iced, obviously...) and enjoying the sound of my little kitties' breathing as I reflect on the idea of lifestyle sessions and my obsessions with them as-of-late. Mornings like this are what motivate me to show up in my business every day. Though today is actually Monday, the vibes are really about embracing the almost-mundane normalcies of life that, when savored and appreciated, make it extraordinary. Mondays suck, though, so Tuesday was the next best mundane-feeling weekday!
If the year were 2016 and this page was my tumblr the playlist would play automatically, but time have changed. If you want to follow along with the musical vibes of this blog, here’s the playlist on Spotify.
Lately I’ve been really loving slow mornings.
I'm not sure anyone would claim NOT to love slow mornings, but right now the regularity with which I can enjoy a slow, peaceful morning is something I deeply appreciate.
You can usually find me doing yoga on the balcony within 30 minutes of waking up, always with coffee and often with a kitty. Whether it's raining or sunny, it's the most perfect spot to be covered from the elements and still surrounded by nature. When I don't have to rush through my earliest waking hours, I feel like I have the most successful days. My craving for these soft, vitamin D filled mornings is a beautiful reminder of why I show up for my small business every day.
As a Philadelphia family photographer,
As a Philadelphia family photographer, I resonate hard with comments like “there’s just never a good time for photos” or “we’ll book a photographer when there’s a special occasion.” Photography is an expensive art and wrangling your family or friends can feel really daunting. Who am I kidding, it is daunting, especially when you feel like you need to show up “picture-perfect.”
The images you’ll find yourself staring at over and over again for years to come are not just the wedding portraits where everyone is perfectly lined up and looking at the camera. They are the Tuesday morning snuggle sessions where you can still feel the warmth when you look back later, the half-awake kitchen light moments, the messy hair, the real laughter that wasn’t directed or posed,
because life happens on Tuesday.
That is what my lifestyle sessions are all about; preserving the life you are already living while it is unfolding.
If this is the kind of remembering you’re craving, send me a message. We’ll plan something that feels like your life, not a production. And if you’re not quite ready to book yet, you can join my list to be first to know when new sessions open and seasonal dates are released.
